Honda Sensing is is a suite of driver-assist technologies designed to improve your driving experience as well as help you stay safer on today’s busy highways and roads. These technologies use radar, optical sensors, or both to monitor the road around your new Honda. Honda Sensing technologies provide feedback in real-time as situations present themselves. Alerts can come in by visual or audio signals or even through haptic (vibrating) seats. Some systems will even intervene on your behalf with emergency braking and steering correction should you fail to react in time. Honda Sensing helps keep you, your passengers, and your vehicle safe and secure, allowing you to retain peace of mind and saving you from having to schedule emergency repairs.

Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)

The Honda Collision Mitigation Braking System uses advanced optical technology and radar to monitor the road ahead for obstacles. When the system detects a possible collision it alerts the driver with visual and audio cues. It will also send haptic vibrations through the accelerator pedal. Should you fail to react in time, the system will apply emergency brake support in an effort to lessen the effects of an impact or avoid one altogether.

Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)

Optical sensors mounted high on the windshield monitor your Honda when traveling within marked lanes. When the system detects an unintentional drift it will alert you both visually and audibly. An unintentional drift would be crossing the dotted white lines on a highway or yellow lines on state and local roads without activating your turn signal.

Road Departure Mitigation System (RDMS)

This system works with the Lane Keeping Assist System. This system engages when the drift occurs and no corrective action is taken by the driver. Once engaged, the system will apply gentle steering correction to return you to your marked lane.

An additional element to this system is that it can detect when you are about to leave the roadway entirely. Should this occur the system will apply emergency braking and steering to help avoid leaving the road, potentially saving you from an accident.

Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR)

This convenient technology scans the road ahead for signs. It only takes a moment to become distracted and miss a potentially important sign. This system will recognize a large number of road signs and project the sign to your driver information display or the head-up display if your Honda has one. You’ll get a brief alert for the approaching sign.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

Adaptive Cruise Control uses advanced radar and cameras to keep you at a preset speed and distance while in traffic. As the traffic ahead slows the system automatically slows your Honda down, even to a complete stop. When the way ahead clears, the system will return you to your preset speed and distance. This helps reduce driver fatigue from continuous braking and accelerating.

Honda Lane Watch

Having a better view helps reduce the potential for an accident, and Honda Lane Watch gives you that better view. Available on select newer models, this system uses a camera mounted on the right sideview mirror. Any time you activate your right turn signal, the camera sends live video to the touchscreen in your center stack. The video provides four times the field of view of just the mirror alone, increasing your confidence when changing lanes in traffic.

Blind Spot Information System

Have you ever wished you had eyes in the back of your head? Having eyes where you normally can’t see is what you get with Honda’s Blind Spot Information System. The system uses sensors that monitor your blind spots, alerting you when a vehicle enters whenever your turn signals are active. You’ll receive a visual cue from the blinking turn signal indicator and audible beeping sounds until the way is clear or your turn signal is deactivated.

Cross Traffic Monitor

Your Honda multi-angle rearview camera is used to detect vehicles or pedestrians approaching from either side when you’re in reverse. The display flashes alerts while a beeping sound continues until the path is clear. This is particularly useful in busy parking lots and can even help you avoid obstacles like a bicycle left in the driveway.

Auto High Beam Headlights

When you’re driving at night, this system uses advanced sensors that detect oncoming headlights or the taillights of cars you are approaching. The system will automatically switch to low beam when lights are detected and toggle back when the way ahead is clear. Your headlights must be in Auto Mode for the system to work.

Honda Vehicles With Honda Sensing

Honda is proud to say that nearly every vehicle in the new vehicle lineup comes with most, if not all, of the above systems as standard features. The goal is to be an accident-free society. That may seem like a lofty idea, but these intelligent systems are already proving their worth on the roads.

Vehicles that feature Honda Sensing include the Honda Passport, an SUV that can take you wherever you want to go. The Honda CR-V and HR-V are the perfect urban adventure vehicles, and standard Honda Sensing standard will give you confidence while navigating the busy boulevards and side streets of your city.

Another SUV, the Honda Pilot, also comes with Honda Sensing. Honda’s family-focused minivan, the Odyssey, has all the comfort and convenience your family has come to expect from Honda, and the Honda Sensing package conveniently makes you more comfortable knowing your family is safer because of it.

The Civic Coupe, Sedan, and Hatchback all feature the Honda Sensing system, as does the Clarity Fuel Cell and the Clarity Plug-In Hybrid. From the Accord to the Fit and on to the Ridgeline, you’ll find Honda Sensing providing its protection to you and your family.
