Rydell Honda of Grand Forks

Jun 28, 2021

It’s time to introduce you to the 2022 Honda Civic, marking the first year of the popular model’s 11th generation. Honda released the sedan on April 28, 2021 and the sporty Civic Hatchback on June 23. In 2021, the sedan featured all-new styling inside and out, which will be carried into the new 2022 model, as well as some exciting upgrades to the technology suite. The newly redesigned Civic will elevate your commute into Grand Forks along Interstate 29 or Route 2. Let’s take a closer look at how Honda’s 2022 Civic stands out against the competitive compact car segment.

Exterior Style

Honda began the redesign of the Civic sedan with a lower, wider frame and increased glass areas. Drivers get a more athletic posture with an improved field of vision. LED headlights come standard on every trim level, including a new dual-low-beam construct that will pierce through the Red River fog. The Civic comes in four trim levels to fit various needs and budgets. Each trim offers exclusive wheel designs, like the Sport trim’s 18-inch Gloss Black wheels or the Civic Touring trim’s 18-inch Gloss Black with Shark Gray inserts.

The elongated hood rises to the windshield, where the roofline arcs over the cabin to slope rearward in the classic fastback design. The Civic’s available Honda Performance Package adds a Gloss Black rear deck-lid spoiler, emblem, and underbody spoilers to the chiseled side body design to enhance its athletic profile. The rear fascia includes a chrome exhaust finisher and the latest LED taillight technology that creates a dramatic effect. It reminds you of the jets taking off at the Grand Forks Air Force Base as you watch the Civic sedan speed away.

Honda has provided limited details for the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback before its release date, but according to teaser photos of prototypes, the upright fast-hatch design appears to resemble the fastback design of its sedan counterpart. While it still features that fifth door, the fastback design might result in a smaller cargo area. We’ll have to wait and see.

Interior Comfort and Convenience

Slipping into the cockpit of the Civic Sedan, you enjoy the comfort of ergonomically designed seats. All your controls were intuitively placed for ease of use. You get leather upholstery standard on the Touring trim and access to leather through upgrades on the lower models. The eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat features a lower cushion that tilts up and down for additional comfort. Heated seats come standard with three heat settings to personalize your comfort.

The one-touch power moonroof lets you open up the cabin to all the light and air. When the moonroof remains closed, the dual-zone climate control system delivers the same personalized comfort. The rear seat split/folds in a 60/40 fashion for multiple cargo and seating options. Now Honda offers signature accessories to outfit your Civic’s interior. You can add high-walled floor mats, a trunk tray with adjustable dividers, rear window visors, and more.

Technology

An available 12-speaker premium system from Bose features Centerpoint surround sound technology for an immersive audio experience. All your in-vehicle technology flows through the infotainment’s interactive display. In addition, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability allow you to connect your smartphones seamlessly. Now you can make calls, send texts, access your favorite apps, and more hands-free as you head out to the Kellys Slough National Wildlife Refuge for an afternoon hike.

Downloading the HondaLink app gives you remote functionality. You can find your vehicle, remotely start it, lock or unlock it, and set the climate control system from anywhere. The app lets you schedule service at Rydell Honda of Grand Forks, too. A front USB port comes standard on every model. With an additional three ports available, everyone’s smart devices can remain connected and charged. In addition, you can stream your favorite playlists on your road trip to Spirit Lake.

Driver Assist Systems

Every 2022 Honda Civic model comes standard with Honda Sensing, a suite of driver-assist systems designed to help you drive safer on the roads around Grand Forks. The suite includes Collision Mitigation Braking System, which scans the road ahead for potential obstacles. When the Collision Mitigation Braking System detects a possible collision, you receive an alert to help you react. Should you fail to respond in time, the system provides emergency brake support to help mitigate or avoid an accident.

You also get a Road Departure Mitigation system. The Road Departure Mitigation system tracks your Civic when traveling within marked lanes. When the system detects an unintentional drift out of your lane without signaling, it alerts you before using gentle steering correction to return you to your lane. The Road Departure Mitigation system’s steering correction can help prevent you from leaving the road entirely. The Lane Keeping Assist System uses similar technology to help keep you centered within your lane through subtle steering adjustments.

An Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow system uses advanced radar and cameras to keep you at a preset speed and distance while driving in traffic. As the car ahead slows, the Adaptive Cruise Control automatically slows your Civic down, even to a complete stop. When the way ahead clears, the system will return your Civic to your preset speed and following distance. The Adaptive Cruise Control helps reduce driver fatigue and improves efficiency on long trips.

Honda’s Traffic Sign Recognition system identifies common traffic signs and communicates them to your Civic’s driver information interface. Traffic Sign Recognition uses forward-mounted cameras to capture the information so you’ll never miss another traffic sign.

A Blind Spot Information system comes standard on the EX and Touring trims. The Blind Spot Information system alerts you when vehicles enter your Civic’s blind spots, helping you change lanes with confidence. The Touring trim adds a Cross Traffic Monitor system that alerts you when a vehicle approaches from either side while backing up in your Civic.
