Can you remember the last time you went to an arcade? If you’re looking for something fun to do to break the daily monotony, it might be time for a game night. There are plenty of exciting game night activities in Fargo, North Dakota, such as arcades and escape rooms. These suggestions will help you find an enjoyable and entertaining spot for a game night with family or friends.

Thunder Road

Group of Racers in Carts on a Race Track

Thunder Road is an amusement park in Fargo with several different attractions, like a twisting 1,100-foot go-kart track where you can race around the tight curves. Or you can battle on the bumper cars, which are a unique combination of traditional bumper cars and bumper boats. There are also batting cages and two 18-hole mini golf courses to test your skills in a friendly competition. If you’re still feeling competitive, play a game of Laser Tag in the 5,000-square-foot multi-level arena. End the evening playing video games in the arcade before heading home.

Space Aliens Grill & Bar

For an out-of-this-world choice for food and entertainment, try Space Aliens Grill & Bar. The large menu includes appetizers, lunch, dinner, and dessert, and has everything from soups, salads, and sides to gourmet fire-roasted pizza. There are daily food and drink specials, such as Rib Riot Wednesday which features all-you-can-eat ribs, brisket, pulled pork, or Martian Munchies. In case you’ve never tried a Martian Munchie, these are the restaurant’s best-selling barbecue boneless pork strips.

Before or after your delicious meal you can spend a few hours playing in the arcade. Not only does it feature dozens of video games, there are also games of skill available like Skee-Ball. Space Aliens has packages available for groups of earthlings, so if you’re celebrating a birthday or other significant event you can purchase a party package.

Skyzone Trampoline Park

For an outing that will literally take your breath away, jumping on trampolines at Skyzone Trampoline Park is great fun and very energizing. If your favorite game in gym class was dodgeball, you’ll love the Ultimate Dodgeball version at Skyzone which adds intensity by being played on trampolines. Or you can try walking or even jousting with an opponent on the balance beam over the foam pit, trying to retain your balance and not fall into the foam pit below.

Skyzone features an air court area with additional games including air basketball, volleyball, and soccer. For kids ages 5 and younger, there’s a Little Leapers program available.

You may want to take game night to a psychedelic level with Glow, a unique club experience that features black lights, music, and lasers while you bounce and dance on trampolines. Glow is on Saturday nights from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and costs $25 per person.

Fargo Billiards & Gastropub

Fargo Billards & Gastropub claims their restaurant is an eatertainery, and the unique term seems to be an accurate description. For food, the pub offers appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, and pasta along with a full bar.

For entertainment, Fargo Billiards and Gastropub offers 28,500 square feet of entertainment value. The billiard parlor has a grand total of 34 pool tables, including both 7-foot tables commonly used for league play and 9-foot tables which are the standard size of professional tournament tables. There are also six pingpong tables, four foosball tables, three dart boards, an air hockey table, and shuffleboard, along with several pinball machines.

If you have children, there are two family-friendly sections in the pub open to all ages. There’s also an outdoor dining and bar area with three sand volleyball courts. The pinball, darts, and other games are coin operated and the game tables are available for rent by the hour.

What are escape rooms?

Escape rooms are challenges where a group of people get enclosed in a room set up with clues and puzzles. The group collaborates on discovering and interpreting clues to figure out how to escape from the room. You usually have 60 minutes to solve the mystery and escape from the room. Staff members monitor the group and they usually provide additional clues or guidance on request if your group can’t solve the puzzle. You can always leave the room, so if you feel anxious you can get out immediately.

Escape rooms are interactive and challenging, and they are entertaining for game nights or birthday parties. Escape rooms give groups the chance to have fun while developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and cooperation skills.

Fargo Escape Room

If you’re new to escape rooms, Fargo Escape Room has some helpful tips on their website for solving escape rooms. This facility has four rooms with up to 10 participants. The rooms conveniently feature a whiteboard to help the group keep track of clues and the cost is $28 per person.

Puzzled Escape Room

The Puzzled Escape Room in South Fargo has seven rooms of varying difficulty to solve. Their website shows the average completion rate, so you can easily select an easier or more complicated mystery based on your group’s experience and preference. The rooms are suitable for both adults and children, and you remain in your own private group. For beginners, Museum of Terror and Time Machine are two of the easier rooms to solve. Games cost $26 per person.

Escape House Fargo

Escape House Fargo has three challenging escape rooms that allow up to eight participants and costs $24.95 per person. Their rooms have fun names like Flood the City and Nana’s Condo, where you have an hour to try to find the large inheritance hidden by Nana before she went into the nursing home. Escape House Fargo has customized clues for younger kids, so you can book a party for a group of children as long as there’s a minimum of one adult in the room.
